Known for his extravagant set designs, Tommy Hilfiger did not disappoint for the autumn/winter 16 show on Monday, with his model’s strutting their stuff down the length of a vintage cruise ship.

The unusual catwalk came after Hilfiger revealed the theme for the show was nautical, which was inspired by 1940s cruise liners. The designer has made it clear that he loves anything to do with sailing, yachting or the water, and said that he wanted to do something a bit different by presenting this theme in winter.

First to head down the catwalk were silky dresses, shirts and trousers, with the odd sailor inspired jacket. As expected, the show included many pieces that were staying true to the theme; such as several different variations of the classic caption jacket, sailor style trousers and stripes galore.

There were also more subtle hints towards the theme, with bows and prints upon garments featuring starfish, anchors, waves and yachts. As well as the more masculine style of sailor wear, the collection was made feminine using sheer fabrics adorned with sparkly collars and metallic silver detailing.

Models wore long ankles socks with metallic boots or shoes and many had tiaras in their hair. Gigi Hadid wore three different looks for the show, which ended with her striding down the runway in a show-stopping gold sequined dress.
