Top five scary places to go this Halloween

1. Tyneside Cinema

This year the indie cinema is to showcase some of the nations favourite Halloween movies starting with a film from Britain’s notoriously gothic, beloved director Tim Burton, in the shape of his  treasured, spooky, animated noir film Frankenweenie. The film is suitable for adults and children alike and tickets cost £4.

Then later, when the moon is full and the werewolves are on the prowl, you can escape to the theatres late night screening of John Carpenters Halloween, the horror which has been titled the North East’s favourite scary film of 2015. The Tyneside Bar café will also be holding a pre-film Halloween party where there will be special Halloween cocktails and a DJ. The party starts at eight, so don’t be late!

2. Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art

If you’re over 18 you can enter the panic room at the Baltic this Halloween and get your freak on at this end of the world style party at the Panic Room’s The Last Survivors. There will be an array of ghoulish cocktails, snacks and prizes for best costume along with beats from DJ’s Jack Pearce and the Curator. The party is on from 8pm until late and tickets cost £8 online and £10 on the door.

The world famous science centre is hosting an adult Halloween party to coincide with its latest video game exhibition. The centre has promised games of zombie laser tag, cocktails, dancing, SFX make-up, a 4D Catacombs ride and screenings of horror film shorts. The dress code is video game character and the party commences from 8pm-11pm and tickets are priced from £8/ £10.

If a party isn’t really your thing but you love scary ghost stories why not book yourself on to a haunted city ghost walk in Newcastle and Durham? There are a range of different walks to go on from Victorian ghost walks to the Newcastle witches to the Ghosts of the Garth walk which are all sure to send shivers down your spine. 5. A Nightmare in Collingwood Street

For the big kids of the North East, Newcastle city centre is to transform in to a nightmare in Collingwood street for the sixth year running. Set along Newcastle’s famous Diamond Strip, the Halloween parties are set to welcome an array of party-goers clad in an array of scary costumes. Nightclubs Madame Koo, House of smith and Florita’s will host some of the north east’s leading DJ’s to help you get your funk on this Friday and Saturday.
