81-year-old Karl Lagerfeld will launch a children’s collection in 2016.

Perhaps the only thing the German fashion designer hasn’t done is venture into the world of childrenswear, until now.

It was announced on Wednesday (February 11), that the head of Chanel would expand his fashion brand into kidswear, and it will be unveiled in spring 2016 in collaboration with Children Worldwide Fashion (CWF).

The brand said in a statement: “The announcement reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to newness and will allow Karl Lagerfeld to share its ironic, playful, creative vision with a young audience.”

According to Vogue, Pier Paolo Righi, CEO and president of the label, said: “The Karl Lagerfeld kidswear collection presents a unique opportunity to share our cool, ironic, iconic DNA with a wider Karl Lagerfeld audience.”

We, for one, are very excited to see what Mr Lagerfeld has in store – but we’re hoping those 10-year-olds don’t end up having a better wardrobe than us.
