Jasper Conran managed to do the unthinkable at the London Fashion Week by bringing the bucket hat into trend for AW and turning it into a chic, yet sophisticated accessory piece.
We witnessed a beautiful scheme of colours take on the catwalk; from navy blue masculine peacoats, crisp white mock neck dresses, to avocado green sequin dog-ear collar blouse, and pastel block crayon midi skirts. It’s fair to say that Jasper has literally gone through the autumnal rainbow.
He went pattern crazy with this new graphic collection, which was reminiscent of his SS16 collection. The models graced the catwalk in autumnal hues with bold geometric patterns overlaid on soft silk material, abstract rectangles on split maxi dresses and sleek check patterned shirts.
A mustard yellow oversized bag, a mini chocolate clutch and a white midnight blue handbag were the statement accessories.
The models kept it simplistic and wore their hair down.
Samantha Hillerby, Session hairstylist confidently explained the inspiration behind the models’ hairstyle, saying: “It’s a Jane Birkin. She’s pure and clean. We wanted to reflect the collection so we have straight graphic ironed hair – the perfect precise middle parting”.
Musician Ella Eyre, with actress Helen George and blogger Niomi Smart were spotted in the frow. The three ladies dressed to impress in delicate spring colours, as Ella was head-to-toe in Jasper Conran from his SS16 collection in an olive and white collarless long structured coat which she wore on top of the matching sleeveless a-line dress. Whilst Helen’s lavender blue faux fur coat was unmissable amongst the crowd, Niomi looked elegant in her toffee brown relaxed trench coat paired with oxblood heeled boots.
Although it’s clear that Jasper’s AW16 collection was created with the autumn season in mind by keeping the classic turtleneck jumpers and boot cut tailored trousers, he has created timeless pieces that are guaranteed to make every head turn when the click of those suede mauve heeled ankle boots hit the floor.
