When I think of plastic fashion, horrible memories about those awkward transparent macs that my mum used to try and shove over my head when I was little before it started to rain all come flooding back. By the way, they never kept me dry!

However, after gorging myself on catwalk shows this season, with the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Miu Miu, Dior and Louis Vuitton, to name a few, all showcasing an element of the plastic trend throughout their collections, I was amazed to see that plastic is back!

But not as you think, instead it’s surprisingly wearable. Shiny patent chelsea boots, PVC leggings, vinyl bags, even plastic faux snake skin skirts have all dominated the rails in high street shops.
