Double bagging: when one bag just isn’t enough

In the upcoming years, this trend will be huge. It appeared for the first time on catwalks of big brands such as Chloe and Fendi in 2015. Within the last year, Chloe used it again in their Spring/Summer 2018 collection and this year, Chanel showed it in their Spring/Summer 2019 RTW collection in a very sophisticated and elegant way.

This collection featured fresh spring colours such as powder pink, creamy white and the colour of the year for 2019 – living coral. Above you can see one model dressed in bouclé tweed carrying the double bags in alternating patterns from her outfit. In the second image, you can also see how models were dressed with body chains that carried two or three bags. You definitely need something like this if you’re having to carry your shoes too.

The double-bag can be worn in many ways. The most stylish way to wear this unique trend is to combine one big and one small bag or one small and one miniature bag.

This trend is getting popular more and more for people who are passionate about fashion, also some celebrities are brave enough to jump into this new untraditional trend.

Previously Rihanna combined this trend in the best way with Dior bags in pastel colours pale blue and baby pink, which collaborate greatly together. They were an appropriate size for the casual, ordinary outfit she was wearing. Simple but effective.

More recently, South Korean actress Jung Ryeo-won, attended a photo call for the Chanel Pharrell Williams Collection launch event in Seoul. Here she can be seen wearing the double Chanel bags in a different style to what we have seen so far.

In Cosmopolitan’s May 2019 edition, ‘the finishing clutches’ photoshoot covers a range of bags, shoes and accessories that are trending this spring. In the polished and pastel section, the model is seen double bagging two different style of bags that are trending right now. This is essentially a trend within a trend.

Another good value of the double bagging trend is that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to create the look. It is suitable for everyone and can be achieved with your own imagination and creativity.

There is a sense of freedom when wearing this trend, but it is good to combine colours which work together in a stylish way. There needs to be some form of connection between the two bags but if you’re stuck for inspiration, you can look to influencers and celebrities on how to stlye the trend.

We hope to see a lot of this trend this spring and in the upcoming summer months. What do you think of the double bagging trend? Tweet us and let us know @Fashion_North.
